Routing A Link to the Past No Logic lategame
Lategame / Go mode is when you have every item you need to finish the game, you have a plan to do so, and you're just executing that plan.
If trying to go fast, you generally won't take time to search for additional items unless you feel that you may not be able to finish the game after all.
Sometimes you can adjust the plan if a better item is right in your path.
It's relatively common in No Logic to be "technically" in Go Mode, but sort of need more items to make it actually doable for your skill level.
Every game has these guaranteed required items:
- Master sword (sword level 2) or better, to damage Ganon
- 4 swords available; you only need 2
- Lamp or fire rod to make Ganon vulnerable.
- One of each available (plus an extra fire rod with double rods)
- 7 crystals (requirements vary depending on which dungeons are pendants)
- Many different item sets are possible solutions to the same problems. So your late game could vary a lot.
Silver arrows are not strictly required to defeat Ganon:
Every other item in the game may be optional, depending on where the crystals are and what other items you have.
You also need to defeat Agahnim 2 in this mode. There are multiple glitches to skip to the top of Ganon's Tower directly into the Aga2 fight, most notably Lava Dive from Turtle Rock with a bottle or Somaria. https://glitchmaps.mfns.dev/?map=EG1&glitch=dg-Lava-Dive-YBA
Working around missing items
- Moon pearl: There are multiple ways to get Link state in Dark World:
- Clip from a light world cave/dungeon into a dark world one. You will be in the dark world area, but your "world variable" will still be Light World (fake dark world).
- When you overworld transition, you will return to Light World. Therefore this method is only useful on screens with multiple items (like Village of Outcasts).
- You can go from fake dark world to the real dark world with the mirror if desired (but you will become a bunny).
- Walk into a dungeon as bunny and die + continue. You will respawn as Link. If you have not defeated Agahnim 1, you will now also be in fake dark world (this is vanilla behavior to prevent breaking into dark world early).
- This is useful for some locations if you do not have moon pearl. It's a strong reason to not defeat Aga1.
- Fake flute (or another method) to get Super Bunny state http://alttp.mymm1.com/wiki/Fake_Flute and then pull on a pullable object like certain trees or the Thieves Town entrance. https://imgur.com/a/tree-pull-spots-lttp-3yErC This will turn you into Link.
- Fake flute will take you to a light world screen, but your "world variable" is still Dark World (fake Light World). Overworld transition to go back to real Dark World.
- This is the most flexible workaround (with 2 downsides: blue potions are expensive, and you become bunny again when you enter + leave an indoor room).
- Clip from a light world cave/dungeon into a dark world one. You will be in the dark world area, but your "world variable" will still be Light World (fake dark world).
- Mirror/hammer/glove/flute: generally you can get around these item requirements with other glitches like YBAs, boots clips, and screenwraps. These items are mostly just convenient. Mirror also makes some glitches easier.
- Hookshot: Some hookshot spots let you dash bonk a wall to cross the gap (like Misery Mire front). Others like the one in Swamp Palace you can YBA around. Hookshot with some other items does allow the very powerful glitch hookpush/stuckpush, though.
- Lamp/Somaria/arrows/boomerang/swords/powder: these items are all helpful for hookpushing, but the more you know about setting it up, the fewer items you need.
- Keys: clipping into a dungeon from a cave gives 255 small keys and lets you use one big key (big key of Hyrule Castle/Palace of Darkness/Thieves Town/Ganon's Tower) for any dungeon.
- Be aware that if you defeat a boss in cave state, no prize (crystal/pendant) will drop. You will have to leave and reenter the front door to collect the prize.
- You can also get past many doors with bottles, Somaria Transition Corruption, or hookpushing.
- Flippers: fake flippers covers most uses, but in Swamp Palace fake flippers are insufficient because there's some special layer-checking happening. You need Fake *C*lippers, or crystal duplication via hookpushing.
- This only applies to collecting the Swamp prize. If you just want the items and/or to defeat the boss, you can clip in from other dungeons such as Desert without flippers.
- Medallions: Turtle rock has 4 entrances, and the medallion one is usually ignored in No Logic.
- Misery Mire prize won't drop unless entering the front door. This can be circumvented with an elaborate dungeon ID swap.
- Fire rod: for Skull woods, you can hookpush past the fire rod requirement, and for Turtle Rock roller chests you can Somaria Transition Corruption.
- Fire rod is required for Trinexx and fire or lantern is required for Ganon.
- Swords or bottles: these are pretty much hard-required, but be aware that there are glitches which close a chest again after it's been opened, allowing you to collect another copy of the item.
- Therefore in some seeds you could find just one, but duplicate up to 2-4.
- Not all chests are dupable, and it is usually faster to just find another item (there are 4 of each, and you generally only need 2 of each).
- If you lack bottles for YBAs, you can often instead use Somaria, hookpushing, or mirror in a pinch. And of course theoretically if you had every important item, bottles would be optional, but in practice this is rare.
